Mulled Hot Apple Cider

This is a recipe that you can really make your own. You can add more of one thing and less of others, improvise ingredients, and even swap out the cider for wine. There isn’t one “right” way to make it. Vary the spices depending on personal preferences and how spicy you want it to be.

Mulled Hot Apple Cider

Ingredients
  • 2-4 cinnamon sticks
  • 2 allspice berries
  • 2 whole cloves
  • 1 sliced orange or 1 tablespoon of orange peel
  • 2 heads of star anise
  • 1 inch ginger root
  • 1/2 gallon apple cider or bottle of red wine

  • 2-4 cinnamon sticks
  • 2 allspice berries
  • 2 whole cloves
  • 1 sliced orange or 1 tablespoon of orange peel
  • 2 heads of star anise
  • 1 inch ginger root
  • 1/2 gallon apple cider or bottle of red wine
Instructions
  1. Use a slow cooker or a pot on stove to heat your cider, spices, and orange slices. Bring the mixture to a boil.
  2. Once the cider mixture has been brought to a boil, reduce the heat to let it simmer with cover on. Leave for about 20 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat and sift the cider to remove spices and oranges.
  4. Serve warm. Can use additional cinnamon sticks for stirs or add orange slices for garnish.
